Project Description

Sorolla House and Workshop Museum

An authentic treasure that we can enjoy in Madrid. One of the most outstanding and best-preserved artist house-workshop in Europe.

It is always a real pleasure to show this house to any visitor, Spanish or from elsewhere. Joaquín Sorolla has this palace built for himself and his family as a home and place of work.

A time capsule to feel and enjoy Sorolla and his time

Our visit will therefore go through the public spaces and the social and work activities of the artist, but also the intimate ones, the daily life with his family.

Of course we will enjoy the gardens, an oasis of nature and the sounds of water in the bustle of Madrid, and we will talk about their importance, since they were designed by Sorolla himself and served as a source of inspiration for his work.

The paintings exhibited in the different rooms will help us to talk about his stylistic evolution, with special attention to the unique way of treating light and color in different genres, seascapes, portraits, …

Very important, the original furniture and personal objects of the artist will take us back us to the tastes and fashions of the moment, with some exquisite pieces bought by the artist on his travels.

In addition to the gardens, spaces such as the Andalusian patio, the private rooms or Sorolla’s workshop will remain in our memory for their still latent energy, light, charm and beauty.

This museum is very attractive for young people and children, they identify very well with the modern technique of the artist. The visit and the contents would be adapted to the age of the visitors.

If the client wishes, there is a very interesting temporary exhibition until January 2021 dedicated to women and their depiction by Sorolla. They are women of all conditions, but not archetypes, but individualized by the artist, with their strengths and weaknesses. It can also be briefly included in the general visit.
